    Supported literacy classes

    Adult learning

    Secured funding from UWCSEA in Singapore for literacy classes to run for 7 years enabling more than 150 women each year to attend evening classes. They not only learnt to read and write but formed their own organisation and implemented several local projects'

    Resources for day care centre

    Education should be fun

    Ran the Liverpool 5k Santa Dash and raised funds to provide educational material for day care centre in Sikles for 60 children. Also provided sports kit and equipment for the local youth group

    Community Photography Project

    Smile!​

    Facilitated a two year project where local people took photos of
    their own community leading to exhibitions and a coffee table book. The project raised over £7,000 which youth, womens groups and the school used for local development projects.

    Nepal / Earthquake response

    Liverpool Unites

    Following earthquakes last year Sara took an active role in forming Liverpool Unites for Nepal bringing people together to raise funds for the Help Nepal Network to rebuild a school as well as supporting other smaller initiatives.

    Friendship Links

    Better together! ​

    By giving talks in local schools Sara has helped develop friendship links between the UK and Pahar Trust (PTN) schools in Nepal. These links help increase understanding and develop global citizens. They have also led to teacher exchange visits between the two countries and enrich the primary school curriculum both here and in Nepal.

    Story sacks and training

    Frogs and Monkeys!

    In December 2015 twenty schools were provided with story sacks featuring handmade puppets from Nepal. Training was also provided with the support of Global Action Nepal (GAN). Feedback from these schools provides the basis of the current fundraising

    ‘Walk a Marathon’.

    Fair Connections Foundation - Training and Distribution of Story Sacks

    Connecting schools

    Fair Connections Foundation has so far raised over £2000 and has worked with over 25 schools in Nepal providing them with handmade puppet sets and book along with training that help make teaching stimulating and fun in Nepal.

    In February 2017 Sara worked with Chrissy from the Pahar Trust and trained 17 schools in the Kaski and Lamjung area on how puppets can be used to make teaching fun. For more information on this see http://www.fairconnectionsfoundation.org/future-projects
